The Oakland Raiders have “definite interest” in signing Josh Freeman, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Freeman, who was released by the Buccaneers after a contentious start to the season, could help the Raiders, who recently demoted backup QB Matt Flynn to third string. CBSSports.com reports that it is unknown if Freeman would compete with Terrelle Pryor for the starting job should Oakland choose to sign him.

The former Bucs QB had asked for a trade early in the season, and was fined repeatedly by the team before being benched for last week’s game and then released.

The Raiders are not expected to make any moves before their game against the Chargers on Sunday night.

Why not? We can also call JustmissestheMarkus Russell who is "wanting a comeback" or even give Todd Marinovich a call (I heard he's out of rehab for the 30th time) while they are at it... this is getting depressing, man!!!

I love that the Raiders suck perrenially, and so bad. It makes all of their fans in those rediculous costumes look that more idiotic..

WTF!!! Who said they have a definite interest?!?! The guy who wrote the story?! Do the writers or their editors even care about journalism anymore?

I have to think that the Raiders lucked into the right QB a few years back in Jason Campbell but then foolishly decided not to stick with him. Grass is always greener for the Raiders and that's why they lose.

Poor Raiders fans.  Pryor may or may not be your QB of the future but Freeman is most definitely NOT your QB of the future...

Flynn knows how to hold the clipboard well, so well in fact that they pay him millions dollars to do it since he does it so well.

So the Raiders have their back up QB and they might have their QB in Pryor.  They have no need for a below average QB (Freeman's career completion percentage is in the 50's, less than 60%.  His career QB rating is below 80 and when it's in the 70's, you're NOT in the top half of QB's in the league.

So there is no need to add a player like this to their roster.  Let Pryor play this season and then decide if you want to go forward with him next yr and beyond.  If NOT, then go for a real starting QB, not one who is well below league average.

Also, in the past 2 seasons, Freeman has been in the top 5 for throwing the most INT's each season (2nd one yr and 5th the other).

Haha why am I not surprised. I think Freeman has some issues. When the coaches and front office screw around with you that's one thing. When your teammates take away your captain role, that's where the red flags come up.

Well at least it's one move that the Raiders aren't sending over draft picks, or going to have to pay a ton of money.

can you believe the matt flynn story. $6.1 million and one step away from being cut.

If Flacco doesn't get his head out of his butt this week, they should give him a look see. Harbaugh is too much of a control freak to give Tyrod a shot.

@Victor_Newman Being a Raiders fan I believe it. If you told me they signed a puppy at DE for 31 mill at 4 years because they think it houses the soul of Al Davis, I wouldn't question you one bit.

@EdStephens Ha ha! Stuck with that joke Flacco for years and big money - all because of a flukey Super Bowl run. Now that's karma in a white suit talking...

@NoThanksESPNFacebook @Victor_Newman   Hey!  I have a puppy.  Let me dress in Silver and Black and nickname him Little Al.  I'll NOT be greedy.  Instead of 4 yrs and $31 million, I'll agree to them signing Little Al for 3 yrs and $21 million dollars.
