The New York Yankees have offered a new contract to manager Joe Girardi, according to the Associated Press.

Girardi and his agent have each met with Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman this week about extending the skippers tenure with the team. Girardi’s three year, $9 million contract with New York is set to expire at the end of this month, and his free agency has drawn interest from the Cubs and Nationals.

The specifics of the offer are not known, but on Tuesday Cashman told reporters “we’re going to give him a real good reason to stay.”

Cashman has no choice but to keep Girardi . He is already on thin ice in New York, much more so than Joe is. If he lets him walk, who knows the consequences.

Since the Yankees are about to get a lot younger, and Girardi is at his best molding younger players, this is kind of a no brainer.

Yep, Cashman, Girardi could rival Houdini for the masterful performances he delivered the last two years, stealing relative success from the jaws of disaster, while covering Yankee management's butt!  Speaking of management, Cashman, what have you done lately?  You better dig real deep Cashman to keep this man!  This is all coming from someone that had reservations about Girardi's initial selection.  Girardi has earned the respect (and the bucks) from everyone that witnessed his magnificent performances.  Take my hat off to you, Joe, you are a Pinstripe through and through!  You certainly know your ballplayers and squeezed everything out of everyone left standing (to limp onto the field)!
