Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was asked about his interest in the now open job at USC and said he isn’t appealed by the position.

The Trojans fired their coach, Lane Kiffin, early Sunday morning after Arizona State routed USC 62-41.

Kelly was asked what he would do if USC reached out to him and responded he does not “deal with hypotheticals.” Asked if he would entertain an offer from USC, Kelly said, “No.”

“I’m the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles,” Kelly said, according to Comcast SportsNet Philly. “I’m very, very excited to be here. I’m not entertaining anything like that. I’m here.”

Kelly left the University of Oregon in January and signed a five-year deal worth a reported $32.5 million to join the Eagles.

Kelly was hit with an 18-month show cause penalty by the NCAA in January for rules infractions by the Ducks football program when he was the head coach.

The Eagles are probably on the phone with USC now, trying to work out a deal. At least they should be...

Those that were tossing his name around as a candidate needed their head examined. He's not leaving the Eagles until he gets fired... which won't be anytime soon.

'a show-cause penalty usually has the effect of blackballing a coach from the collegiate ranks for the duration of the penalty.'

He'll be "revolutionizing" the NFL for a little while longer.  lol

Given their own NCAA problems, I don't see USC making Kelly an offer.

Translation: I'm outta here as soon as I get the offer!

@geewhiz Yep.  USC couldn't hire him right now, even if they wanted to - the NCAA won't allow it.  Not sure why this question even came up.

@jshunk16  "I'll have to wait till the end of the season before I rule out anything - who knows, maybe  I'll  look into it."  Just once I'd like to hear a coach give an honest answer like that!
