Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is symptom-free and will start this Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers after passing the NFL’s concussion protocol, the team announced.

Pryor sat out last week’s 24-14 loss to the Redskins after suffering a concussion the week before against the Denver Broncos.

The Raiders also said that Matt McGloin, an undrafted rookie quarterback, would be promoted to second string and Matt Flynn would back him up.

Pryor has completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 624 yards with two touchdowns and two interception this season for Oakland (1-3).

“It is what it is. It didn’t work out,” Allen said about Flynn’s demotion. “It hasn’t worked out like we anticipated and we’ve got to make decisions and we’ve got to move forward and continue to go, and [Flynn is] going to continue to battle and scratch and claw, and I still believe that he’s a capable quarterback. But we’re going to give McGloin a chance.”

The Raiders acquired Flynn this offseason and are paying him more than $6 million not to play.

Release Flynn so the Packers can get their backup QB back.

The good thing if there are any good things about the Raiders (they need a lot of pieces), T. Pryor can learn fail at times without looking over he shoulder for Flynn after he has a bad game... You will never hear the Chants for Flynn because the fans now know Pryor deserved a chance to prove himself over a long haul with a better constructed team.

Could you picture Pryor throwing 5 picks like Flacco or turning the ball over like Eli and not here the calls for McGloin, neither can I... Give this guy Time people he deserves it even if he ever has a one of those Brady, Brees , Flacco, Eli type bad games game.... 4 plus picks

This had to happen and luckily it came early enough to remove any doubts for the future. Oakland has been chasing its tail for close to two decades trying to find 'the one QB' to lead the team back into the limelight and as the saying goes 'desperate times call for desperate measures'. The potential of TP is bright, the salary cap issues are back in their favor and things are starting to turn around. Has it been slow? Hell yes. But once the train gets back on track...look out!

Six million, money well spent. How about another ten dollar beer.

This is what the big-headed (from ONE game) traitor Flynn gets...

You have to admire Flynn - he turned one great game against a mediocre defense into tens of millions of dollars.

After Jamarcus Russell you would think an organization would be more careful about their quarterbacks but after all this is the Oakland Raiders we're talking about.

Here's some free advice Oakland - Don't sign former LSU quarterbacks.

Flynn has to be laughing all the way to the bank....even on 3rd string....he still gets the hefty salary.

Not too bad a career in the NFL if you get paid and never have to play and never get a concussion.

You know Al Davis was on his last leg when they hired a Denver Bronco to be the coach how retarded was that he's supposed to be a defensive guy I haven't seen much then draft a guy in wilson that they can't even coach up this a offensive league get you a good offensive coach and draft some good offensive players and dump that bumb mcfadden you can't be affective if your always hurt top picks for this sorry excuse for a organization marquise lee, aj mccarron ,johnny manziel pac -12 running back it's amazing they pay all these scouts  lots of money to evaluate talent I sit here and watch college football and could tell you who to draft and who not the draft Let's go raiders get it together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@youngnorth77 lol what?

for one the Raider's defense is much improved from two years ago.

for two the Raiders had seriously no draft picks of value. How many 5th-6th-7th rounders actually contribute to the teams that pick them? not many. that's all the Raiders have had to work with.

@youngnorth77 Except for facts, spelling, punctuation, syntax and grammar you're exactly right. Good job.

@youngnorth77 Please tell me you are just kidding.  Davis did not hire Dennis Allen.  I case you missed it........Al Davis died.  In 2011.  Allen was hired in 2012.

@RaidLakeDodge letting Hugh Jackson trade two first-round picks for Carson Palmer was the worst decision Marc Davis could have made. Shoulda just put Trask in charge of the team until the end of that season then gone and gotten a GM. How much are Raiders fans missing Jason Campbell right now?
