The New York Giants have waived running back Da’Rel Scott, the team’s second-leading rusher, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Twitter.

The 0-4 Giants have struggled on offense this season, and the lack of a running game has been a major part of it. Second-year running back David Wilson fumbled twice in the season opener and has worked to regain coach Tom Coughlin’s trust.

The team signed veteran running back Brandon Jacobs for depth, but Scott still had a chance to carve out a role with the team. He didn’t take advantage of his limited opportunities. He rushed 16 times for 56 yards this season.

The Giants used Scott’s roster spot to sign center Dallas Reynolds.

@x72 No, they mean Da'Rel. Because, you know, that's how to spell his first name.
