The NBA announced on Monday that Toronto will host its 2016 All-Star Game.

NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement in a Toronto news conference with Mayor Rob Ford and Canadian rap star Drake in attendance. The Raptors announced the appointment of Drake as their new “global ambassador.”

“We promise to you the best all-star game and week that we’ve ever had,” said Tim Leiweke, CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment at a press conference Monday at the Air Canada Centre. “We’re blessed that this sport has taken off in this country.”

The  2014 NBA All-Star game will be held in New Orleans, and New York will host the 2015 event.
