Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker could miss up to eight weeks after injuring his hip during the team’s victory over the New York Jets, reports ESPN.com.

Titans head coach Mike Munchak said on Monday that Locker spent the night in a hospital.

Locker was injured and taken off in a cart after he was hit in the third quarter of the 38-13 victory by Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson and Jets linebacker Quinton Coples.

Locker also has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will have another MRI on his hip on Tuesday.

Locker was 18-24 for 149 yards with a career-high three touchdown passes at the time he was injured and veteran back Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the starting nod this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilkerson said he did not think the play that injured Locker was dirty or late.

“If it was late, the ref would have thrown a flag,” Wilkerson said. “They didn’t throw a flag.”

It was nice to see him developing into an above average QB.  Hopefully he can shake the injuries and put in a full season otherwise you can't build your team around him.

Locker has failed to screw things up, make no mistake about it--he's only allowed to throw short stuff occasionally.  The passing offense is very unimpressive.  It is the rushing offense & defense---that is, the rest to the team doing the leading.

@gary41 yeah hitting guys in stride and having the 5th best passer rating is unimpressive.  He still throws a wild one here and there but his accuracy and timing have greatly improved.

Yeah, huge bust: 6-0 td to int ratio this year and leading his team to a 3-1 record and only one year under his belt. I'm a 'Niners fan here, but you're ridiculous. We've gotten a bit used to QB's coming in and tearing it up from day 1, though it still usually takes some time.

Think a bit.

Have to side with Whatever, on every point he made. I'm not annointing the guy the next Warren Moon, but he's played well when he's been healthy, and seemed to be turning a corner this year. I definitely didn't get a 'bust' vibe from him

@UBERTAXTHERICH @tushymcspankspank You're wrong. Locker was playing very well this year. The Titans just have more of a ball control offense, not a high-power, high-scoring (basically spread) offense like Green Bay, Denver, etc.
