Georgia’s sophomore running back Todd Gurley left Saturday’s game against LSU early with a left ankle injury. He returned during halftime wearing a boot and without pads.

Head coach Mark Richt called it a sprained ankle. Gurley totaled  73 yards on eight carries before his injury, which came in the first half when he was dragged to the ground on a run.

An opposing coach – North Texas’ Dan McCartney — called Gurley a future first-rounder. From The Daily Southerner:

“Todd Gurley is a future first-rounder,” North Texas coach Dan McCarney said. “He is a sensational football player.”

Even without Gurley, the Bulldogs went on to outlast LSU 44-41 in a thrilling SEC shootout.
