The Tigers will reinstate Jhonny Peralta on Friday following the end of his 50-game suspension, and still plan to play him in left field Friday in Miami, according to Mlive.

The Tigers haven’t changed their plans despite Jose Iglesias’ recent injury. A bruised hand has kept the rookie out of the starting lineup for the past six games, though he has been used as a defensive replacement.

Peralta has been playing the outfield and taking at-bats with the Tigers’ Instructional League team in Florida. He has yet to be tested with a fly ball in left field and did not make a putout in 10 combined innings this week. Peralta played the final two innings at shortstop Thursday, but it was believed to be as a precaution.

“I don’t know for sure what they want me to do when I get there, but I know they want to see me in left field in Miami,” he told the Free Press. “Maybe I’ll get a fly ball in Miami.”

CORCORAN: Awards watch includes Miguel Cabrera vs. Mike Trout

The Tigers have not revealed if Peralta will be in the starting lineup in any of their final three games against the Marlins. The Marlins are starting three right-handed pitchers and Andy Dirks usually starts in left field against righties. The Tigers likely want to get a look at Peralta in the outfield before deciding whether to add him to their postseason roster.

Peralta accepted Major League Baseball’s 50-game ban for using performance-enhancing drugs without an appeal and is scheduled to be a free agent this winter.

well yhe latest is that Peralta goes to the outfield for the playoffs and they keep their regular shortstop in please. Wee Mr Leyland I really like the move. However we better come up with a plan to get some hits out of Cabrera anf Fielder otherwise the As may take your boys out in four games. The tiger lineup needs some drastic changes like getting rid of the deadwood after the season ends, Good Luck

Another standing ovation for a drug cheat fraud coming up, no doubt...

@ezwriter69  Right on many a truth said in jest. The joke is on the Yankees and lets see what MLB decision is??? If he gets off Ill never watch another game.
