Pitcher C.C. Sabathia is finished for the season after straining his hamstring, the Yankees announced on Monday.  The strain is in Sabathia’s left leg and, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, will take at least 2 months to recover.

New York’s postseason chances are fading as the season nears its end. The Yankees, losers in six of their past nine games, trail the Cleveland Indians by four games for the second American League Wild Card spot with only six games remaining in the season. Sabathia, a six-time All-Star and the 2007 Cy Young Award winner, will finish the season with a 4.78 ERA and 14-13 record, his worst numbers since joining the Yankees in 2009.

The Yanks have had half of the team shut down for most of the season, so what is one more player?   Jeter, Rodriguez, Texeira, Granderson, for most of the season.  A slew of other players for parts of it.  It is amazing that they were even competing for a playoff berth down the stretch!

This is why you  never sign pitchers long term after the age of 29.

Hopefully CC comes back healthy. CC needs to learn how to pitch with a decreased velocity by locating his pitches. Pedro had to do the same back in the day.

Bad news for Yankees fans. Sabathia isn't just done for the rest of the season, he's finished period. He's got nothing left in the tank. I expect nothing but high 4 ERAs from now on.

To say that he had a disappointing year is putting it mildly.

@oasis1994 Maybe Pettite would be willing to come back to coach him in Spring Training?
