Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was allegedly scheduled to sign autographs at a Buffalo Wild Wings in York, Pennsylvania on Oct. 30. The organizer of the event, co-owner of JJ Cards-N-Toys at the York Galleria Mall, Jamie Bartolo said she had to cancel the event due to death threats against her and her family.

Bartolo said she received thousands of death threats on social media for planning an event to bring Vick into town. From CBS 21′s report:

“The message was, ‘I wish your wife and kids would die,’” said Bartolo.

“I’m a dog lover and an animal person. I know what he did was wrong and he served his time in prison. You need to give a person a second chance is our philosophy in life. When you start threatening my family, that’s when it gets scary for everyone involved.”

Nearly 70 people had already purchased tickets to the event. Bartolo said she has not decided if she will change the venue, the player or cancel the event entirely.

After the story aired, a spokesperson for Vick contacted CBS 21 to state that Vick was never scheduled to appear at the event. From CBS 21:

“In fact, Michael was never presented any proposal or agreement to attend any autograph session in October,” the spokesperson said.

I'm as big an animal lover as they come, and especially dogs. However, we have to give Vick a second chance. Would he still be doing it if he wasn't caught? That's a moot point IMO. Pretty sure he would be, but he served time, and has said and done everything right since. His motivation is also not something that needs to be questioned. Sure he has to to keep his high paying job, but I really believe he's changed. No chance he goes back to killing dogs after, and if he does, he should rot in prison for the rest of his life. But in a world full of fVcked up people, he deserves a second chance based on how he's acted since his conviction. People need to let it go...

A leopard doesn't change his spots.  If Vick hadn't been caught, he would still be involved in this hideous activity.  He doesn't deserve any more chances.  Second chance???  Give me a break.  He had dozens of opportunities to stop his activities.  How many more chances do you want to give him?  He is a horrible human being and any person who condones any activity by him deserves public scrutiny.  Death threats?  No...  But your motives sure deserve to be examined.  There is no friggin way in this world you are an animal lover if you do anything with this guy.

Damn...really?

I love dogs too...in fact, I love animals more than humans, but why can't some people just let stuff go? And what does this promoter/her family have to do with any of this?

@mbroncofan I am just curious if you hold the same disdain for the NFL players who murdered human beings.  I love animals but I love humans more.  Should animals be treated the way Vick treated them, no.  But no second chance?  Really?  If that is how you truly feel then I hope others show you the same lack of forgiveness that you are willing to show someone who apparently has reformed. BTW can you show me any evidence that he has not made a change?

@btcvsolo While I agree with your posts, I seriously hope you do not love animals more than humans.

@jeffcooper71 @mbroncofan you really don't understand do you.  He had dozens of "second chances"!!  He knew it was wrong every time he got involved.  Did he stop once??  Only when caught.  He doesn't deserve any more.  He knew it was wrong and continued to do it.  You honestly believe he deserves more??  Where does accountability come into play here?  Character?

Tell me...how many second chances did many of these dogs have?  Who stood up and gave them a second chance?  Hmmm?

I have absolutely no compassion for ANYONE who abuses animals or children.  Those people are the scourge of the earth and have no redeeming social value.  They have no business in this world.  Because if you abuse those who cannot take care of themselves, then you really aren't a human being in my eyes...your nothing but something to be scraped off the bottom of my shoe.

The best part about this is it really doesn't matter what you or I have to say in this.  One day, he will have to explain his actions to a much higher authority.  Good luck with that.
