Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel out for season with ankle injury
Florida Gators starting quarterback Jeff Driskel suffered an ankle injury during Saturday’s 31-17 victory over Tennessee that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
Driskel was already playing with a brace on his sprained left knee when he injured his ankle early in the game.
Tennessee’s Devaun Swafford picked off Driskel’s pass and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. Marlon Walls pulled Driskel down as he released the ball. The starting quarterback attempted to get up but then fell back onto the turf and signaled for trainers.
Florida head coach Will Muschamp said Driskel will have to undergo surgery on his injured tibia and will miss the remainder of the season.
Junior Tyler Murphy replaced Driskel for the rest of the game.
