Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung is headed to the injured reserve with a designation to return list after he receiving a second opinion on his left toe injury, reports ESPN.com.

Okung got the second opinion from foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson after the team feared he could be out for the season. It was originally reported that Okung suffered a torn ligament in his left toe.

BANKS: NFL Week 3 picks

Okung was injured on the final play of the first quarter of the Seahawks 29-3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

Placing Okung on the IR designation-to-return list means he will have to miss eight weeks of action, so Week 11 against the Vikings is the earliest he can return.

Time to draft a new left tackle. I like this guy a lot but he just cannot stay healthy.

@yadda71 they will be drafting O-line. Giacomini is on his contract year and he is the most penalized player in the NFL for 2 years in a row. No way he is around next season.
