NFL Appeals Board overturns Bucs safety Dashon Goldson’s suspension, fines him $100K for hit
The NFL Appeals Board has overturned the one-game suspension given to Tampa Bay safety Dashon Goldson for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Saints running back Darren Sproles, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports on Twitter.
Instead, Goldson has been fined $100,000 for the play, reports FOXSports1′s Alex Marvez. Goldson would have lost more than $250,000 in salary had he been suspended.
Goldson drew a 15-yard penalty on the hit. It was the fifth unnecessary roughness call against him since 2011 and his second of the 2013 season.
He was fined $30,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland during Week 1.
