A gathering of Jacksonville Jaguars fans will hold a rally petitioning the team to sign free-agent quarterback Tim Tebow.

A website under the domain jags-tebow.com says the rally will take place in the Everbank Field Stadium parking lot on Monday at 3:16 p.m. and will last three hours and 16 minutes. Tebow had inscribed the bible verse John 3:16 in his eye black during the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.

Tebow wants to “keep the NFL dream alive” and has turned down offers to play in the CFL, along with an offer from USA Rugby to change sports, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King reported. Tebow only wants to play in the NFL and will return only if given the chance to play quarterback.

After being released by the New England Patriots, Tebow took to Twitter to thank Patriots owner Robert Kraft and coaches Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels for the opportunity to play for New England. Tebow also said he will be in “relentless pursuit” of his dream of being an NFL quarterback.

Jacksonville is 0-2 and ranks 30th in total offense with 426 yards, ahead of only the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bengals and Steelers will play each other during the final game of Week 2 on Monday night.

The mission of the fan-created website:

“Make it clear, we the fans, want the Jacksonville Jaguars to bring in Tim Tebow. You know you want to see this happen.”

This article and ALL of the articles calling this a Tebow rally are junk. This was some local church group who just wanted to get on TV. There was no notice of this "Event" , it was held during work hours and was simply a joke!! If there were to be a true Tebow rally , with advance notice , and held when working people could attend there would be thousands of people there!! For the media to continue to equate this "Rally" with tebow's true popularity is just sad!!!

There weren't even 10 people there?

They could have bused in 316 people from southern Georgia!

Why do I suspect the Tebow rally will have a bigger crowd than the Jags' last home game?!?  This move makes far too much sense for a bottom feeder like Jacksonville to pull off.  The team is throwing in the towel and just waiting for Los Angeles to build a stadium.

Going through the motions isn't a unique strategy.  Plenty of other teams idle through the season, content to suck on the NFL's TV contract teat.  They're fine, going nowhere, and wouldn't want to rock the boat, two games into the season.

The Jags will be in the running for the top pick in next year's draft.  They'll still stink...com'on, LA...what's taking you so long?!?

How is Ricky Stanzi on the Jags roster and Tebow sitting at home in Jacksonville waiting for his next opportunity to play? Tebow would definitely generate more revenue! As the hometown hero, he would rally the apathetic Jaguar fans, sell more tickets and memorabilia and possibly give them a chance at winning. How could the successful business man owner not see this? The simple answer is religious persecution. The fact that Tebow is an outspoken Christian and the Jaguars are owned by Shahid Khan an outspoken Muslim. This should be explanation enough! Don't fool yourself into thinking it has anything to do with Tebows technical delivery. Just look at Ricky Stanzi's name on the roster and the absence of Tim Tebow's and ask yourself the same thing I did- Who the heck is this Ricky Stanzi and why is he playing QB for the Jags while Tebow trains at home? The guy has never played in an NFL game. Never rallied a team into the payoffs as Tebow did with the Broncos. Never won a Heisman! Never won a Championship. Never wrote John 3:16 under his eye and knelt in prayer on national TV... ahh there we go.

@KeithAlbert As noted in my comment, above, the Jags have no realistic shot at winning the Super Bowl...and they have no interest in changing their MO.  Losing teams make plenty of money...sold out stadiums are just icing on the cake for good teams.

What makes anyone think Khan cares about winning?  He's a businessman...a money man...and not trying--or paying--to get the best football people is part of the deal.  TV MONEY...THAT is how bottom-feeders profit...as long as they don't go hiring expensive front office personnel or overpriced players.

I really believe that IF the Jags COMMITTED to Tebow, they would win games and sell out their stadium.  Alas, restless "natives" can't make the owner and coaches buy in.  Woody Johnson tried to make Rex Ryan play him...so he made him a special teamer.  Nope, the team for Tebow will be the one where everybody is on board, and where they're not trying to make him a drop-back passer.

Tebow made a below-average running attack, the league's best, and he put up over 300 yards in the air against the Steelers.  The Broncos, on the fly, adjusted their game plan for Timmy.  With only a bye-week, they put together a good enough plan to go to the second round of the playoffs.

Put Tebow in the right situation, and he'll flourish.  Khan's refusal to sign a big golden goose is indicative of the struggle he's facing now.  I hope he finds a team in the NFL...surely, there's room for him...

@KeithAlbert You can do as much hand-waving about his religious expression, but the facts are that Tebow has had stints with 3 different teams and each team came to the same conclusion: He can't consistently read defenses, he can't consistently get the ball to his receivers, and he does not have a quick delivery which is important when trying to deliver the ball with pass rushers around you.

@Holden @KeithAlbert "No realistic shot at winning the super bowl" , They have no realistic chance of winning a single game!!!!
