Free-agent forward Lamar Odom was formally charged with driving under the influence stemming from an arrest last month, reports the Associated Press.

The L.A. city attorney’s office said Friday that the charges are from Odom’s Aug. 30 arrest in the San Fernando Valley.

Authorities said Odom’s car was observed traveling in a “serpentine manner.”

Odom, 33, faces six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted on the charge and he will be arraigned Sept. 27.

Odom played for the Los Angeles Clippers last year averaging four points and 5.9 rebounds in 82 games and became a free agent at the end of the season.

If all the reports of his drug use are true, this would be the best thing for him.  Of course "stars" have a way of serving very little to any time for something like this...

But it would be great for him to spend a full 6 months behind bars without drugs... get them all out of his system.

Or serve like 7 days and continue his downward spiral and then maybe have something terrible happen where those close to him would have wished that he had served the full time behind bars...

This is an embarrassing sensationalist headline CNN/SI.  Technically he could face "up to" 6 months, but any half-witted lawyer will tell you that this will result in 1) safe driver program 2) probation and 3) a fine.  Don't turn into a news embarrassment CNN.

Talk about bait and switch headlines. First offense DUI is a slap on the wrist, day (at most) in jail and a pittance of a fine (for odom).  Just wasted my time reading and responding.  Good thing I's at work.  Would really pi$$ me off if I wasted my own time.

He won't get anywhere near 6 months for a DUI, especially if it's his first. Probably only a day or two.

I'd rather be with bubba in jail for 6 months than his buffet eating wife with a larger mouth for 6 months
