Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Sept. 14 bout against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez could earn Mayweather Jr. up to $100 million, according to an ESPN.com report. Mayweather is already guaranteed to make $41.5 million for his WBA/WBC junior middleweight unification fight against Alvarez.

According to the report, if projections pan out, Mayweather may see a $100 million take for the fight. The pay-per-view record of 2.44 million home buys of Mayweather’s 2007 bout with Oscar De La Hoya is likely the fall and the live gate revenue is expected to exceed $20 million, second only to Lennox Lewis-Evander Holyfield II in 1999.

Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs) and Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) will have their bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sept. 14.

O’BRIEN: Odds are that Mayweather will keep doing what he always does

Let's be real: smart fighters think about their future while they're fighting otherwise they won't have much of a future.  Floyd is a smart fighter.  He's entirely too arrogant for my taste but the guy is gifted.  I don't understand some of you haters.

I'm a canelo fan but the only way he wins is by K.O because he won't get the decision.

Floyd "duck and run" Gayweather. Most overrated boxer in history.

Why doesn't the hot shot fight Pacquiao? He's seen that he lost his last fight, so you would think he'd be confident he could beat him. What's the hold up?

Hard to believe people still care about boxing.

@doublejtrain68 Mayweather owns his own company, Pacquaio works for Bob Arum. Bob Arum used to be Floyd's boss, & screwed him financially, so they had a huge argument. Floyd promised Arum would never see a cent of Mayweather's money in future. Because Pacquiao is under Arum, Floyd doesn't want to give any of that PayPerView $$$ to Arum. The only way he would is if Mayweather controlled all terms for the fight, something Arum would never do. Just ego in the way, more business than boxing. Floyd can take Pacquiao, it would be a great fight. It's just business that gets in the way at the end of the day.
