Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is spending some of his suspension calling season ticket holders to apologize for his indiscretions, according to CBS 58. The Brewers confirmed providing Braun with contact information for some season ticket holders at his request.

Braun, suspended 65 games by Major League Baseball for breaking its performance-enhancing drugs policies, recently admitted his PEDs use and mistakes he made while attempting to cover up his violations.

CBS 58 talked to sports bar owner Pat Guenther who initially was suspicious of the man on the phone claiming to be Braun.

From CBS 58:

“Hey there’s a guy on the phone claiming to be Ryan Braun, it’s probably one of your buddies messing with you.”

He picked up the phone thinking it’d be a joke.”Hey Pat this is Ryan Braun,” Guenther recalls.  “Right then and there I knew it was his voice based on interviews I’ve seen on TV. I knew damn well it was his voice.”

So he did what anyone in the service industry would do.

“I said what can I do for you? He said, I messed up, in a nutshell, I messed up. I just want to reach out and say I’m sorry. I cut him off right there. I said you know Ryan, I think you’re an amazing athlete and this speaks volumes to your character to reach out to a small business owner like myself and let us know that you are going to do better.”

“Who hasn’t made a mistake? People move forward. I think that’s what Ryan is trying to do. He’s moving forward. He has no other option. Be better, help his ballclub win games and win the hearts of Brewers fans like he has for many, many years.”

“He was very humble on the phone. He wanted to reach out and for him to do this is an act of kindness.  He wants the people of Wisconsin to support the Brewers and him.”

Braun has lost several endorsement and sponsorship deals including Nike and a regional restaurant group that owns 8-Twelve MVP Bar & Grill — named after the jersey numbers of Braun and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Really?  In these calls, is he admitting he used PED's?  Is he admitting that he threw a functionary under the bus, AND apologizing for that, too?  If he's not, then these calls are worthless.

And BTW, how did the Brewers manage to decide that it was OK to breach confidentiality and share even part of their season ticket holder database with this lying cheating idiot?  If I were a season ticket holder and received such a call I would 1) hand up on the guy and then 2) return my season's tickets and ask that my name be removed from the list.  I can sit at homer and watch the games on TV is much more comfort.  If I wanted to go to a game, I could buy single game tickets, and, horror of horrors, actually pay CASH so as not to be included in any database from that organization ever again.

Pretty simple answer.  I'd tell him its not me he owes an apology to.  Until he apologizes for lying about the MLB test collector, I'm not impressed.

Geez, are sports fans the biggest saps on the planet or what? Dude, tell me everyone makes mistakes when you're paying more for your season tickets to pay for Ryan Braun's contract and he's hitting .250 with 10 homers (because he's no longer on the juice) and the Brewers are finishing out of the postseason AGAIN.
