The New York Yankees have activated shortstop Derek Jeter from the disabled list, according to a MLB.com report. Jeter missed the last three weeks with a strained right calf and the 39-year-old Yankees captain has only appeared in just five games this season.

Jeter called the injury “frustrating” and described the 2013 season as a “nightmare,” before hitting the disabled list.  Jeter returned to the Yankees on July 11 after recovering from two separate ankle fractures in his left ankle. After missing the first 91 games of the season, Jeter returned to the disabled list after he strained his right quadriceps muscle on July 11. He returned from the injury on July 28 but complained of pain in his right calf the very next day.

In five games this season, Jeter has hit one home run and driven in two runs.
