Retired linebacker Keith Bulluck was arrested on a felony robbery in Nashville, Tenn., early Sunday morning for allegedly stealing money from a cab driver.

According to a Nashville Police statement, a cab driver called 911 at 2:50 a.m. CT — hours after Bulluck had served on the broadcast crew for the Titans’ preseason game against the Falcons — while parked outside a bar. The driver told officers that he was waiting for a customer who had already paid when Bulluck approached the cab and asked for a ride.

When the driver told him he already had a fare, Bulluck then allegedly reached through the passenger window, grabbed the driver by the shirt and took a $100 bill from his hands.

From the police report:

The officers noted that Habib’s shirt and undershirt were torn.

Habib told officers that the man responsible had gone to a nearby bank parking lot in the 1600 block of Church Street. Officers followed Habib there. He positively identified Bulluck as the suspect.

Bulluck, who smelled of alcohol, was taken into custody. Habib told officers that he wanted to prosecute. He appeared before a judicial commissioner who then issued the robbery warrant.

The 36-year-old Bulluck was arrested, booked in jail and released on $10,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on Sept. 26.

The former Pro Bowler, who played 10 seasons for the Titans and became the first player to formally retire with the organization last August, released a statement on Sunday.

From ESPN.com:

“I was out with friends last night in Nashville and was taking a cab home. There was a misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting my money back for a service not rendered. At 2 a.m., things could easily get lost in translation, but regardless of who was right or wrong, I regret putting myself in that situation.”

Another brother soon to be on the unemployment line. Nice apology though; really heartfelt and sincere. Maybe Keith can land a gig in the newly reformed United States Football League.
