Aaron Hernandez’s cousin pleads not guilty to contempt charge
A cousin of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez pleaded not guilty to a contempt charge for refusing to testify before the grand jury that indicted Hernandez in the murder of a friend.
The Associated Press reports that Tanya Singleton entered her plea Friday and was ordered held without bail. She is due back in court Oct. 3.
Prosecutors say Singleton refused to testify after she was offered immunity. A grand jury indicted Hernandez on first-degree murder and weapons charges in the death of 27-year-old semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez pleaded not guilty to murder and weapons charges in June and is held in a Massachusetts jail without bail.
