Bills safety Jairus Byrd signs franchise tender
Byrd had been holding out in hopes of securing a long-term deal but instead will play this season under the tender, worth $6.916 million.
The team slapped him with the tag earlier in the year and he refused to sign the tender, skipping all the team’s offseason activities. He had been the last of eight franchised-tagged players in the league not to sign their tender or agree to a long-term deal by the July 15 deadline.
Byrd is coming off a season in which he was named second-team All-Pro after recording 79 tackles, five interceptions, and four forced fumbles.
