49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham to begin season on PUP list
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham, who tore his ACL and MCL in December, will begin the 2013 season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, coach Jim Harbaugh announced on Sunday.
Manningham will not be eligible to return until Week 7.
He suffered the injury during a Dec. 23 game in Seattle, forcing him to miss the final regular-season game and playoffs of his first season with the 49ers.

The 27-year-old is making progress, according to Harbaugh.
“It’s going very well,” Harbaugh said Sunday. “Been great feedback on Mario. He’s really feeling now he can put his leg in the ground with some power.”
Manningham made 42 receptions for 449 yards and one touchdown last season after signing a two-year, $7.375-million deal during the offseason following his key role in the New York Giants’ championship run.
San Francisco’s No. 1 receiver Michael Crabtree is also on the PUP list after tearing his Achilles in May. Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams, 2012 first-round pick A.J. Jenkins and 2013 fourth-round pick Quinton Patton are the team’s primary remaining receivers.
