Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had his issues with the NCAA when he was in college at Oklahoma State, getting suspended before his junior season for lying to NCAA about a dinner with Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.

Bryant said he would be mad if Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel isn’t suspended if the NCAA finds him guilty of receiving cash payments for signing autographs.

“Hell yeah, I’ll be mad,” Bryant said to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.  “I will be mad. But I don’t want him to get suspended. I will be mad more at the NCAA on how they do things. I just feel like it’s not fair. This is something I have no problem talking about because I feel like somebody needs to say something to him and let it be known how they treat people is not right.”

Bryant said he lied to the NCAA because he was scared and believes that players like Manziel should be able to sell their autographs for money.

“I did lie. I came back. I told the truth and they suspended me indefinitely,” Bryant said. “The way the guy was talking to me was like I did something wrong. I didn’t know it was OK for me to go to someone’s house.”

What you should be saying you ignorant moron is "If they find out he accepted cash and broke NCAA policy and they do not suspend him, I will be mad." Why does SI even print this ? It's just a matter of time before this idiot is out of the league, he will not last, too stupid.

NCAA losing what little integrity they had left!!!  Here is what a friend wrote me:

Dez has shown a lot of maturity this year and in practice and pre-season he has been simply unstoppable. This will be a big year for him.

As for his comments here, he is correct on many fronts. Yes, the NCAA is unfair and only care about making $ and ratings. Dez was suspended 9 games for visiting his hero which isn't a violation yet Pryor gets to play in a bowl game after a major violation after agreeing to serve suspension the next year then he goes pro instead. Why? BCS ratings. Paul hit it on the head with Manziel. The NCAA will delay their ruling until after the Alabama/Aggie game because it will be the highest rated game of the year and bring $$. I like how Dez says he doesn't blame Manziel but instead blames the NCAA for making a fortune off players Jerseys, etc until they took them off their website when someone pointed out the hypocrisy recently. People are getting wise to the NCAA. Just another good ole boy club of bloated old men that engineer the bowel matchups, make backroom deals with businesses to line their own pockets, and make tons of cash off of college athletes then point a finger at athletes like Dez in small programs like Okie St yet let their cash cows like Newton, Pryor and Bush get away with murder. And people think this half-$%#@ playoff system will fix the controversy? lol   it will create more. Just wait until there are 3 1 loss teams and 1 undefeated team and 1 of the 1 loss teams gets left out in the cold.

“Hell yeah, I’ll be mad,” Bryant said to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.  ”I will be mad. But I don’t want him to get suspended'

So just what do you want? get mad if he is not suspended or get mad if they don't do anything? Now just go and smack your momma, seems you are good at that

Why don't we just stop with the pretense that major college football has anything to do with amateur athletics and treat it like the business it is. Hell, the players at a BCS school should have their own union.

So Dez "believes that players like Manziel should be able to sell their autographs for money". Dez, you're full of it. Just the thought of a young fan having to give you ten bucks for signing your name on a piece of paper is disgraceful.

Everything about the NCAA is becoming a farce.  Not a Dez fan, but he should be mad and so should a lot of people

Dez got worked over by the NCAA and has every right to have an opinion about this. If Johnny Football does not get the penalty that he had to live with then there is something absolutely corrupt about the NCAA in the way that they dole out justice to QB's versus everybody else.

Dez Bryant should be more worried about just catching the football.

Dez Bryant need to keep his mouth shut and worry about his own problems.

@bighatbbq And you give the same, "innocent until proven guilty, leeway to A-Rod, right? Look I don't think there should be anything wrong with what Manziel did, but you're in denial. Hundreds of autographed pictures and mini-helmuts with Manziel's John Hancock are being sold. You think he did that because he's doing someone a favor, or do you think he got paid?  C'mon Man!

@Blinker Kinda agree. Pryor wasn't going to go pro. His suspension forced him to and he still had to sit out the first 5 games of the NFL season. (talk about a backroom deal) Reggie Bush lost his Heisman, his team couldn't compete for a Pac-12 title for a couple of years and lost scholarships. Newton didn't do anything wrong, it was his father. So, you're right about the NCAA, but your definition of a double-standard needs work.

@NoQNoSuperBowl Bingo, and it's something I've been saying for a couple years now. I think an "NCAA Players Union" is inevitable, especially if the SEC moves towards forming their own national athletic organization to break away from the NCAA.

Players agents, proper contracts, free agency. It'll certainly be more equitable for the players, and a lot more interesting for fans.

For instance, say some underclassman QB has a breakout year at some small school. They will be recruited to play out their eligibility at one of the larger powerhouses. Sucks if you're not a powerhouse school, especially if the hard work of recruiting a player doesn't pay off with 4 years of exclusivity. But in reality these schools are effectively minor leagues anyway.

@Burp These autographs are bought and then sold online or in stores. No one is saying that if you walk up to the guy and ask him to sign something, he'll pull out a cash register and charge you. The NCAA makes boatloads of money off of these guys and their likenesses. The hypocrisy of punishing the players for making a little extra money is only compounded by their inconsistent protocol when it happens.

@RaidLakeDodge Why should anyone be mad? If it's proven that he broke the rules and the NCAA has indisputable evidence against him then he will be punished for it.

@MarkGrebinger while I think that Bryant is a good receiver, he won't dominate anything. He might put up some big numbers but the cowboys are a weak team and bryant is no Calvin Johnson. No team changes their style of play when Dez is on the field.

@mystafugee No, he isn't wrong for what he said. However, the NCAA hasn't even finished their investigation yet and nothing has been said about a possible suspension. The rules on this issue are very clear. If they find that he has broken the rules then he most certainly will be suspended. Dez Bryant had his issues with the NCAA and he also paid the price for it. But he didn't learn anything because of it and has had multiple issues since joining the NFL. The cowboys had to hire someone to basically babysit the kid. His issue isn't with the NCAA or Manziel. His issue is that if he got in trouble so should everyone else who has ever done anything wrong. It's more typical "feeling sorry for myself" crap and has nothing to do with this situation at all.
