Lee Westwood apologizes for early morning Twitter rant
Golfer Lee Westwood apologized on Monday to his “sponsors and true followers” after a Twitter rant in the early morning hours following his final round at the PGA Championship on Sunday.
Just hours after he shot a 76 in the final round at Oak Hill, Westwood let loose on the Twitter world, especially those who questioned his commitment to the game.
“Like I give a f—k what the haters say! That’s life! Some people will always be just a little bit better and work just a little bit harder,” he said.
Westwood, who finished tied for 33rd, wasn’t finished. When someone said that he might be thin-skinned, Westwood said he didn’t care to hear from “unachieiving (sic) low life’s.”
“Come on you girly boy trolls! I’ve only won two million on the course this year. Need to keep me entertained a bit longer than this,” Westwood added later.
Sincere apologies to my sponsors and true followers for my earlier comments .
It was out of order and out of character ,Westy .—
