Report: Brewers’ Rickie Weeks out for the season with hamstring injury
Weeks left the Brewers during the finale of the Brewers-Giants series to have an MRI in Milwaukee after injuring his left hamstring trying to beat out an infield single. Weeks fell running up the first base line and had to be helped off the field by Brewers assistant trainer Dave Yeager and manager Ron Roenicke.
Weeks’s season-ending injury ended a year where the second baseman hit .209 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs in 104 games.
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke talked about Weeks’ injury:
“When you start having the same injury for pitchers and regulars, all the injuries are a concern, but the same ones – especially being a muscle – that’s what they’re concerned about,” Roenicke said. “Some guy runs into a wall and he breaks a hand or he gets hit by a ball and breaks a hand, you can’t do anything about that. The hamstrings, the quads, the obliques, those are the things you hope with training you can limit those.”
