Four former Vanderbilt players who were dismissed from the team in June have each been charged with five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of sexual battery, The Tennessean reports.

Brandon Vandenburg, Brandon Banks, JaBorian McKenzie and Corey Batey are said by police to have raped an unconscious woman in Vandenburg’s dorm room June 23. The players were dismissed from the team by head coach James Franklin on June 29.

Vandenburg, 20, has also been charged with one count of tampering with evidence and one count of unlawful photography. Banks and Batey are 19 years old, while McKenzie is 18. Batey has already been arrested.

From the Tennessean:

Police first got word (of the incident) after university officials checked a hallway security camera in an unrelated incident and saw suspicious behavior by the four.

if the allegations are true, they should never set foot outside a prison wall again

If those four had played at NC State, coach Doeren would have given them the opportunity to "earn their way back on the team".

"The coach kicked them off the team for rape, without letting the team have any say? Crazy!"  Les Miles

May these four have a long and fruitful life of being raped in the state penitentiary.

Sounds like Franklin dismissed them immediately. I mean, he was made aware of the crime and he acted right away. If it were Les Miles and LSU the team would probably vote to let the four play while they were out on bail. A coach can't control what his players do but he sure as hell can make them responsible as far as the team is concerned. Just another reason I wish Maryland had the sense to keep Franklin and not hire the loser they have now.  Franklin is a first class coach.

@Mel FYI, big football players that usually go to prison continue to be predators, There is no morality in prison, just survival of the physically strongest,

@6marK6 FYI, people in these guy's position typically are going to get ganged up on in the prison system. I say that having worked in the prison system myself, as well as having multiple family members who are/have worked in the prison system. They will go in with targets on their backs due to it being in the media and due to it being a gang rape.
