Civic duty called for Miami Heat forward LeBron James as he was selected for jury duty in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, on Thursday.

James, who is spending his summer in Akron, tweeted a photo of himself leaving his house Thursday morning and wrote “time to serve my civic duty.”

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, James drew a buzz at the Sutton County courthouse in downtown Akron when he arrived. He was not seated on a jury for trial and left the building at 10:30 a.m.

The league’s reigning regular-season and NBA Finals MVP will go through the process again on Friday, the Beacon Journal reported.

This a small example (but small things add up) of why we do not have the decision makers bright enough to make the right choices in powers of authority, and you wonder why our country is messed up.

Anyone with common sense knows certain people in our society should be removed from this process because they serve no purpose but to contaminate any jury they serve on, so why waste peoples time. Imagine how many billions this country could save by removing idiots from positions of authority ... lol

Long live the King !!!

Hey LeBron,

You are not "serving" your civic duty, you are performing it. It is not a jail sentence, it is a privilege.

Good thing he wasn't on the Trayvon jury...

@ArnoldKnack really, Arnold?  Its a privilege to be forced into ultra-low paying labor for the state for an undecided amount of time and put your life/job on hold?

Because he had obvious bias before the trial even started.

@Korzagg Oh okay, by that logic I guess you couldn't have any white or hispanic jurors.  Never mind the fact a juror with a clear bias got on the jury but let's bash Lebron.
