Riley Cooper returns to Eagles, will practice with team
Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper returned to the team Tuesday after an excused absence and will take the field with the team in a joint practice with the New England Patriots.
Cooper was excused Aug. 2 to seek counseling after he was caught on video making a racial slur toward a security guard at a concert in July. The video didn’t surface until last week. The third-year pro was fined an undisclosed amount by the team and has apologized to teammates.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL will not issue additional punishment to Cooper.
Cooper is expected to meet with the media later today. The former fifth-round pick started five games for Philadelphia last season, catching 23 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns.
