Green Bay wide receiver Jordy Nelson had a knee procedure and will miss the rest of training camp, head coach Mike McCarthy announced Tuesday. The Packers hope Nelson will be able to return for the team’s Week 1 game against the 49ers.

Meanwhile, fellow wideout Randall Cobb left practice Tuesday after suffering a bicep injury, per Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

BURKE: Cobb dealing with “butterflies” during camp

The Packers are relying on Nelson and Cobb to be the primary targets, along with James Jones, for quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season after Greg Jennings left for the Vikings in free agency. Cobb had 954 yards receiving in his second year as a pro, with eight touchdowns. Nelson had 745 yards receiving and seven touchdowns.

The packers draft a lot of late round people who are cheap, have a history of injuries in college, did I say cheap, are smallish, passed on by 31 other teams, did I say cheap, were slow and did not make level IA but are cheap finds. and people wonder why all the injuries? Duh cheap, late round picks.

The achiles heel of the Packers: Ted Thompson and cheap ball.

@ImmaFubared your insinuation that late round picks or small school players are more injury prone is ridiculous and unfounded. It's football. Players get hurt.

Geez, Jordy Nelson must have had a busy off season if he had to wait until the start of training camp to have the procedure to fix the "old, nerve issue he's dealt with off-and-on since KState."  But hey, I am a procrastinator too...
