Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley was arrested early Tuesday morning by police in Arizona for alleged marijuana possession while driving, according to the official Scottsdale, Ariz., website.

Beasley was stopped for a traffic violation by an officer with the Scottsdale Police Department at approximately 1:15 a.m. and when the officer approached the vehicle, there was reportedly a smell of marijuana emanating from within the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle found marijuana that was impounded, according to the report. Beasley, the driver of the vehicle, was booked for possession of marijuana and was released.

The 24-year-old Beasley has had a history of legal trouble including previous incidents with marijuana possession as well as an allegation of sexual assault made against him earlier in 2013, a case that remains open. In 2010, then with Timberwolves, Beasley told Minnesota’s president of basketball operations David Kahn that his days of smoking marijuana were behind him.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft inked a three-year, $18 million contract with Phoenix last summer. Last season, he averaged career lows of 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20 minutes per game for the 25-57 Suns.

I remember debating if the Bulls should take Beasley over Rose before their draft.  Geez I was an idiot.  Or still am.
