Gio Gonzalez, Melky Cabrera among players avoiding discipline in Biogenesis
Five players previously linked to the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drugs investigation will not be disciplined Monday by Major League Baseball, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports via Twitter.
Rosenthal reports A’s pitcher Bartolo Colon, Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal and Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera, who have previously served suspensions for PED use, will receive no additional penalties. The New York Daily News reported last week those players would not pay for their violations twice.
Rosenthal reports Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez and Orioles pitcher Danny Valencia have been cleared of violations.
The New York Daily News also reported some players linked to Biogenesis may not be disciplined because MLB investigators could not find enough evidence to justify penalties. The report did not name those players.
