The Miami Dolphins signed safety Reshad Jones to a four-year extension, reports Pro Football Talk.

Financial terms were not disclosed and Jones was due to make $1.323 million this season.

Jones skipped the offseason team activities while trying to position himself for a new contract.

Jones, 25, started 16 games last season and finished the season with 94 total tackles, nine pass deflections and four interceptions. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract.

He was drafted by the team in the fifth round by the team in the 2010 NFL draft.

“I can only get better,” Jones said last month. “I got the ball rolling in the right direction and I just told myself I want to be recognized as one of the premiere safeties in this league. I think last year I went out and showed that to the world and I just want to keep it going.”
