Report: Canucks’ Alexander Edler suspended for first two games of 2014 Olympics
Edler’s agent said he suspected that the federation would add two games to Edler’s punishment. He was suspended two games from the World Championships.
Edler, who plays for Sweden, injured Carolina Hurricanes and Canadian forward Eric Staal in a knee-on-knee hit in the quarterfinals of the World Championships. Sweden ended up beating Canada 3-2 in a shootout.
The ruling would have Edler miss Sweden’s first two games at the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, but return for Sweden’s final preliminary round game and play in the playoff round.

Edler met with IIHF officials on the weekend and agent Mark Stowe tells News1130 Sports that the ruling could become official as soon as today.
