Derek Jeter expected to return Sunday
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, provided he feels good about playing when he gets to the stadium.
Jeter has played one game in the major leagues this year, during which he suffered a Grade 1 strain of his quad. Prior to that, Jeter had been on the disabled list as he rehabilitated his surgically-repaired ankle.
He was eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday, when he played in a simulated game. After making it through the game and testing his quad by running, Jeter is expected to be healthy enough to start in his second game of the season.
Girardi said Jeter will play on Sunday, as long as he's OK when he gets to the Stadium. Jeter had simulated game today.—
