Chicago Blackhawks extend coach Joel Quenneville through 2016-17 season
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today head coach Joel Quenneville received a contract extension that will take the 54-year-old through the 2016-17 season.
Since taking over the Blackhawks in the early stages of the 2008-09 season, Quenneville has led the team to two Stanley Cup Championships and a 222-106-44 overall record in the regular season without once missing the postseason. Quenneville’s .613 postseason winning percentage is the highest for a Blackhawks coach since 1940 and he’s the only head coach in the history of the franchise to win two Stanley Cups.
Quenneville’s previous contract was set to expire after the 2013-14 season.
