A video from a Columbus, Ohio nightclub appears to clear suspended Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde of an alleged assault, reports Yahoo! Sports.

The report states charges are not expected to be filed against Hyde after video from Sugar Bar 2 shows he did not appear to make contact with an alleged victim who said she was assaulted last weekend.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer suspended Hyde indefinitely on Monday after the report surfaced.

A video reportedly shows Hyde speaking in the direction of the alleged victim just prior to her hitting him in the head.

The video then shows Hyde leaving the area and reaching back in the woman’s direction in a non-confrontational manner. A source told Yahoo! Sports it doesn’t appear Hyde ever made contact with the woman, either before or after she struck him.

The alleged victim in the case filed a police report Saturday. Hyde was not named in the report or arrested, but was later named a “person of interest.”

Meyer had to do this to protect the rest of the team. Also from what I heard the girl that hit him is the daughter of a cop, not that that means anything but maybe it had something to do with her filing a police report.

Seems possible that what he said was considered offensive and she wanted him to know that.  That aside, he's just not too bright to put himself in that position.  There's nothing wrong with having a good time, and if he's of legal age (as it seems he is) he has every right to be there.  That doesn't make it a good idea though, and he needs to be smarter than that.

So she hit him in the head for no reason?  Shouldn't she be charged with assault and battery?  Sounds like this chick is crazy.

Was the video the only time in question?  Or did he hit her before or after the video?  Don't jump to conclusions just yet.  But regardless...another case of being in the wrong place.  You just can't put yourself in these situations if you want to play major college football.

what if there wasn't video? It sounds horrible, but I feel the majority, like myself, thought Hyde hit the woman. I am glad I was wrong.

I think making a false police report is a misdemeanor.  Will she be charged?

OSU needs to reinstate this guy immediately with apologies.  I'm a Michigan fan too, and that's my honest opinion!  Also, he needs to sue this woman for slander.

@Log I know for a fact that other reporters saw the same video as this so called female

reporter did. She is the only one of the group that said Hyde hit the girl. Very strange!

@JohnP He is allowed, of course, but sometimes it's wise to avoid certain places. Remember how Billy Martin kept getting into bar room fights, even when he was 60? Some guy would get in his face and Martin reacted.  He should have stayed home. Not fair, I admit, but if it's going to get you into difficulties like this, avoid them.  You just have to be mature enough to skip the trouble spots. Martin NEVER learned. I hope Hyde does.

@JohnP  I would say a good reason for him to not be in a nightclub would be that it is illegal for anyone under 21 to be in a nightclub

@Kenner King @JohnP Gotta think before you post.  He was a 2009 grad, making him a redshirt senior now.  He's more than likely 22 years old now.
