Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops raised some eyebrows this offseason when he questioned the top-to-bottom dominance of the SEC and said its reputation as the best conference in football is the result of “a lot of propaganda that gets fed to you.”

Tuesday at the Big 12 Media Days in Dallas, Stoops scoffed at the suggestion his comments upset SEC country.

“I don’t really care,” he said, per ESPN’s Joe Schad. “I am entitled to my opinion.”

Stoops’ younger brother, Mark, is in his first year as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Since his first year at Oklahoma in 1999, Bob Stoops is 3-4 against SEC opponents, including a 41-13 loss to Texas A&M in this year’s Cotton Bowl.

college  football is cyclical, and and SEC truly is a topheavy conference

Alabama, Florida, and Auburn have made the top look good lately - but the "invincible" name that the SEC has is vastly overblown.  Their top couple teams have been great, but the rest aren't any head-and-shoulders above the rest of the competition

In conference performance, that measued D1 football conferences top to bottom. Big12 was percentage points below the SEC.

Does anyone ever see Kentucky beating Bama or Florida like Baylor beating KSU last year. In its first year, A&M rewrote the offensive record books in the SEC,

Stoops has his opinion, and the sentiment that SEC is top heavy, but weak after the top 5. is shared by every fan outside SEC couintry.

Hey he can have his opinions and we will take his recruits. Touche'!   He can have his opinions, but sharing them is just going to make him look like a fool. The best way to handle it is to win football games. A&M got so much crap during Sherman's last season and heading into the SEC it was unreal. But after an 11-2 season with a trounce of OU it all went away. Well aside from the nation treating Manziel like he is a Kardashian.

I am a UT alumnus and hate ou and Stoops more than anything and anyone. That being said, the SEC is not all it seems. They do a very good job of keeping their dogs in the West from playing the top dogs in the East. Alabama did not play a tough schedule last year, no UGA, UF or SC in the regular season. In the end, all they had conference wise that was tough were LSU and A&M, and they lost one of those! Too many teams in that conference. Hell, you got teams not making the SEC championship game getting National Championship shots! That is bogus!

Well Stoops will get his again this year if he gets the chance to play an SEC team. If it was all propaganda why do the SEC teams keep winning??? Stoops is just a jealous idiot

@jaxxdueceHe definitely shouldn't apology for "hurt feelings", but maybe for making a dumb argument.  Makes him look stupid.  And where are these hurt feelings anyway?  I can't imagine anyone in the SEC taking him seriously.
