Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops on controversial SEC comments: ‘I don’t really care’
Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops raised some eyebrows this offseason when he questioned the top-to-bottom dominance of the SEC and said its reputation as the best conference in football is the result of “a lot of propaganda that gets fed to you.”
Tuesday at the Big 12 Media Days in Dallas, Stoops scoffed at the suggestion his comments upset SEC country.
“I don’t really care,” he said, per ESPN’s Joe Schad. “I am entitled to my opinion.”
Stoops’ younger brother, Mark, is in his first year as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Since his first year at Oklahoma in 1999, Bob Stoops is 3-4 against SEC opponents, including a 41-13 loss to Texas A&M in this year’s Cotton Bowl.
