Jerry Jones: NFL return to L.A. “closer than ever”

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t think Los Angeles will be without an NFL team for much longer.

Speaking before his Cowboys opened training camp in Oxnard, Calif., a coastal city 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles, Jones said he is “aware of some things that make sense” in getting an NFL team back in the city. From ESPN’s report:

“Closer than ever — ever being since they left, which has been a long time much to my surprise and anticipation,” said Jones on Saturday, when asked if the NFL was close to returning to Los Angeles. “There are some viable ways for a team or teams to be in Los Angeles. We’ve got some very talented and very qualified people that want to be a part of it that are not a part of the league right now. We, obviously, have people within the league that want this very much.”

The Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Rams played their last game on Christmas Eve 1994.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said the NFL will not be expanding from 32 teams, so if Los Angeles were to get a team, it would have to be through relocation. The Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers are the most likely teams to relocate, reports ESPN.

I suppose if the Cowboys keep missing the playoffs maybe they might be a candidate to move to LA.  Not likely, but it would be funny to see that happen.

Is it just me, or does JJ look like he's in the first stages of turning into the Hulk?

This is Jerrah and the league attempting to pressure St Louis because Rams just won arbitration allowing them to go year to year on their lease after 2014.

I don't worry about LA, Chargers have been year to year in bad stadium for years. Raiders I believe are free to move anytime they want. Neither has shown much interest in LA.

Good luck wit dem boyz Jerrah, 9-7 superbowl all the way.

What happened to the Jaguars?  Don't they have to cover like half their upper deck seats to avoid blackouts?  I know it's not popular but unless our Bills do something we'll be in Toronto soon... so why not LA!

Looks like he had Lemon-Lime Gatorade poured on his head when they won the last SB and he never washed it out.

I'm not sure why people think this is so far-fetched.  It makes much more sense than shipping teams over to London to play a single snap.

Hopefully they come up with a better team name than the Pelicans.

Are you really gonna trust this guys opinion on anything football when he hasn't been able to put a winning product on the field since Aikman's last concussion?
