New Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum was introduced Friday after signing a two-year, $24 million deal.

Only $6 million of that deal is guaranteed in the first year and Bynum says he plans to be on the court when the season starts.

Bynum missed all of last season with knee issues after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers. He says he weighs 305 but wants to get down to the 280s.

Bynum, 25, said getting his career back on track is the only goal.

“I worked really hard to get where I am, and I continue to work hard. I’ve had injuries in the past, and there is a lot to be said for people who think that way. But I think if you get to know me and you look at how hard I have worked to get where I am now, that’s kind of nonsense,” Bynum said to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Bynum had career highs of 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds in 60 games in the 2011-12 season with the Lakers and has averaged 11.7 points and 7.8 rebounds in his career.

As long as the ball has holes in it he is good to go.

i honestly think if an NBA player signs a huge contract and doesn't play a single game for that team he should only get a 1 million dollars. and then he can bail or chose  to return and play for said team and really earn that contract ....

at 305 lbs. and  $16.4 million dollars in one non-playing year at Philly, it's hard work  to avoid the salad bar .

It's a player option, isn't it? Only 6  million this year if he gets hurt?

@SeanHHS team option for year two and performance incentives that lead to only 6m guaranteed

really Andrew Bynum you are lucky that  the Cavaliers  sign your a.s.s without working out 4  them . just shut the h.e.l.l up and play 4 the 1st time in years.

@comeflywithme23 hes only had ONE season off... and was very productive the year before last - if his injuries are taken care of, hes one of the most dominant players in the league

Strong work ethic at bowling. No question about it.
