Report: Orlando Magic add forward Jason Maxiell on two-year pact
The Orlando Magic and free-agent forward Jason Maxiell have reached a two-year agreement, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. Maxiell’s deal is worth $5 million, with the Magic holding a $2.5 million team option for the 2014-15 season.
Maxiell has spent his entire eight-year career with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.1 minutes. Last season, Maxiell started a career-high 71 games while also setting career highs in minutes (24.9) and rebounds (5.7). The former Cincinnati standout averaged 6.9 points on 44.6 percent shooting last season.
Orlando finished an NBA-worst 20-62 last season. The Magic selected Indiana guard Victor Oladipo with the second pick in the draft.
