Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan promoted his older brother, Larry, to be the team’s director of player personnel, reports Yahoo! Sports.

The elder Jordan will answer to Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins and general manager Rich Cho.

Before the promotion, his previous job was team director of special projects. Jordan’s former college teammate at North Carolina, Buzz Peterson, had the position but left to become the head coach at Appalachian State.

More from Yahoo! Sports:

Larry and Michael were teammates at Wilmington (N.C.) Laney High School during their senior and junior years, respectively. Michael Jordan credited his brother, who stands 5-feet-8, for helping him become a better player when he was younger through their intense 1-on-1 games.

Michael Jordan’s son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Jasmine, are also involved with the Bobcats in lesser roles, sources said.

Larry Jordan played professionally for the World Basketball League’s Chicago Express in the league’s lone season in 1988.

Has this guy accomplished one thing after leaving the Bulls? He has been a failure at every endeavor he has set out to do. Fortunately for him he has a Sugardaddy by the name of Nike to pay his bills forever. And if the Nike sales slip, well, ESPN and CNNSI will just hype him up a little more each day.

He has been a remarkably awful team executive in Washington and Carolina.  Somewhere, Jerry Krause is laughing.

Can't wait for Kobe to bite MJ and take over a franchise. Then he can run it into the ground

People would be calling for this guys head if he was in charge of a team people actually cared about.

What better way to keep a sinking ship a float, hire Family members... instead of the best person for the job.
Wow i must say it seems like Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan ate number 23 and number 45  that is  some serious walking around weight Jordan is carrying

mmmmm l let me see... Oh he OWNS a basketball team... Yeah, that is very unsuccessful....looool!! How many teams do YOU own?? What? I didn't hear you..... What a loser.....

@prisonmike If he wants to take care of family, he can give him money. But putting his older brother in a position of a professional sports team? How's this good business? How's that good for the fans? Jordan may have been one of the best players ever, but he's turning out to be one of the worst owners ever.

@prisonmike I guess the issue is if you live in Charlotte and see that team as belonging to the community, maybe you expect more from the current ownership group. But I am sure you are one of these people that feel the taxpayers that paid for the stadium have no rights, Jordan can do whatever he wants to wreck the team....and he has!

@espn.comment.legend

The only thing your list is telling me..... Kobe and Jordan never PASS the ball... Lebron has a higher FG% than Kobe and EQUAL to Jordan...

Now make a list of triple doubles, double doubles, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks , efficiency ratings and i am 100 % SURE Kobe and Jordan will be behind Lebron overall

@espn.comment.legend Is there a point to this? Because it seems you're saying Kobe is better. No wonder ESPN let you go. When LBJ has played as long as the others, bring this back up. I'll find what ever site you are on,as long as you still have web privileges. haha

@StacyHutchens Wow, talk about totally missing the point. Yes, he's rich because he was a great player which allowed him to buy a team. But what personnel and business moves has he made to be successful as a GM or owner? Kwame Brown anyone? If I'm a Charlotte fan, I'm groaning right now at this move. Jordan seems to have no interest in winning as an owner. Just for staying in the limelight. He was a fantastic owner, but as his HOF induction speech showed us...he's a bit of an @ss

@6marK6 @prisonmike Wreck the team?? What is your problem?? How do you know his brother cannot do the job? With all the family run basketball teams you get your panties in a knot over this because??? The team does not belong to the community, it belongs to Michael Jordan. Get that straight!
