San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVarro Bowman didn’t exactly appreciate seeing a picture of his quarterback Colin Kaepernick wearing a Miami Dolphins hat.

A photo of the dynamic third-year quarterback wearing the hat surfaced a few weeks ago.

“This is a huge mistake by Kaep,” Bowman said, via NFL.com. “I’m sure he understands that now. In his defense, we’re young, in our era these days we like to match our snapbacks with our outfits.”

“The hats now these days are very important to the outfit, so Kaep I understand what you did, but let’s stay away from the NFL teams,” he added. “Stick to NBA, go to college or the baseball hats.”

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith agreed with Bowman’s sentiment.

“That’s the rule for the most part, to stay out of conversations like this,” Smith said. “You stick to baseball or hockey or whatever.”

Part of the problem is that very few teams nowadays inspire loyalty from their players. You can count the ones who preach time pride on one hand: Yankees; Steelers; Red Sox; Packers; and maybe the Dodgers. No player from any one of these teams would dream about wearing another team's colors. Besides, the league is full of gangbangers now. Just a bunch of tatted-up knuckleheads with zero team pride.

Woooohooooo bye bye espn

SI conversations are incredibly, lightly attended.  There's an A-rod story with zero comments.

This kind of stupidity makes it hard for me to respect athletes. Don't these guys have anything better to worry about? These so-called veterans come across as having the maturity of a fifth grader.

I didn't really know much about Kaepernick before this, but his original response was spot-on and a hell of a lot more mature than what Bowman and Smith had to say.

Young or not, that was a dumb move.  You should bleed your own team's colors, especially as the QB and leader of the team.  I'm sure he has learned his lesson...

yesterday I was on an article that kept fluctuating between 1000 and 2000 LURKERS.  I thought WTF, why is no one commenting?  lol

Well this is a relief.  I thought I was going to have to spend my days working.  On that note, off to get some work done.  Congrats on your successful immigration.

Interesting how it shows us who like the comment.... we will know who is self liking and who isnt'... imagine that... lol

I'm interested to see how a live event does here. If the MLB games work OK, I'll do NFL here too.

I like how it tells us how many people are "lurking"

This platform seems pretty real time and I think it might be easier to track conversations you are in if  I can figure out the livefyre thing.  the worst part of the espn system is you can sort my newest, oldest and most liked, but not by "mine".

I actually tried posting to espn using FB but they won't let me.  I can't even use FB.  I've been shamed.

@Washheightsboy before the switch I tried creating a fake facebook and posting on a baseball thread... it did nothing but jack up the whole thing to where I couldn't even post with my regular espn account on football... I had to use another browser to finish out my time over there... what stupid freaking crap

@Washheightsboy Think they went back on their move to facebook, the johnny football thread and Occupy Tebow are still going strong.

@espn_refugee @randomdeletion it seems i was wasting time on ESPN when i could have been here.  ignore the fact that online conversations I have are 99% wastes of time anyway, but you know what I mean

@espn_refugee @randomdeletion yeah I dig that too... you can see all their comments, which means you can follow someone to another thread they are currently commenting on if they leave the thread you are on

@randomdeletion @Washheightsboy i created  FB account in December under the suspicion that this was going to happen.  But the email address i have for that is the same on some account that got banned two years ago and they extended the ban.
