Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace cleared waivers Sunday, making him an unrestricted free agent, according to multiple reports.

The Lakers waived World Peace via the amnesty clause last week and he told reporters in Los Angeles that he doesn’t “really want to play for anybody. World Peace can sign with any team except the Lakers if he chooses to play in the NBA next season.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the New York Knicks and World Peace have a strong mutual interest.

World Peace, 33, averaged 12.4 points and 5.0 rebounds last season and is still owed $7.7 million by the Lakers next season but it does not count against the team’s salary cap.
