Yanks shortstop Derek Jeter out this weekend, to be re-evaluated next week
He will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.
Jeter missed the first 91 games of the season because of a broken ankle and was activated Thursday, going 1 for 4 with an RBI groundout as the designated hitter against the Kansas City Royals. He injured the leg in his third at-bat.
Jeter broke his left ankle Oct. 13 in the AL championship series opener, then broke it again in April during his rehabilitation.
“We’ll have to give it some time and see how he responds,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. “I think the ankle is fine. “I don’t want to say it’s Father Time knocking on his door.”
The Yankees’ next game after the All-Star Break is July 19 against the Boston Red Sox.
