New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony reportedly wanted the Knicks to pursue Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, according to a New York Post report.

According to the report, Anthony told friends after the Brooklyn Nets pulled off a trade to acquire Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Anthony figured the Knicks would be in hot pursuit of Rondo. Anthony allegedly believed Rondo would be a perfect fit with the Knicks, claiming Rondo would be motivated to go against Garnett and Pierce.

The hypothetical trade scenario most likely won’t come to fruition as the Knicks will be returning guard J.R. Smith and Pablo Prigioni. Anthony said on NBA Draft night that he won’t “whine” or “complain” about the Knicks’ lack of free-agency funds.

The Celtics, in an apparent transition phase, traded Garnett and Pierce to the Nets for expiring contracts and picks after moving head coach Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a first-round pick.

THOMSEN: For Celtics, trade of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce is end of era

He won't whine or complain about the Knicks' lack of free-agency funds becasue he's going to get $21M next season.  Whatever Melo...If you really want to win a championship go to the front office and take a pay cut to bring in some players, but of course you don't have it in you to do that

You want the ball in your hands all the time and now suddenly you ask mgmt to pursue Rondo which in fact 90% of the time has the ball in his hands. I dont see the logic..  and Rondo of all players is not a friend material? just ask Doc Rivers and the Celtics big 3. and oohh btw, Did you just whined and force D'Antoni out when you had a pass first PG in Jeremy Lin?

Caramelo won't whine?  I guess he won't as long as his paychecks clear the bank.  What a great guy.

Earth to Melo: the Knicks' lack of flexibility is largely due to the way you forced your way there.

Carmelo can request every scorer and top point guard in the league to play with him all he wants. the day he learns to not be a selfish isolation player is the day he'll be on a team where they have a chance of making it to the finals.

They should trade Iman Shumpert for a years supply of food for Raymond Felton.

They should trade J.R. Smith for a bag of Skittles (tm) and a can of Arizona Iced Tea, then send him to deliver them to....

LOL... its not up to him, it's up to his coaches.

Everyone of them, when the going gets tough, resorts to Iso-Melo as an offensive scheme.

Still, its not his fault this year, as JR Smith failed to take his Playoff Viagra this year and was a detumescent   embarrassment,

@Dr.Killapatient ^ That trade was vetoed by the Starving Kids In Africa*

*For basketball reasons.

@D27 It all starts from the Leader!  Don't be surprised if he's in LA next season

@es @burghkid18 I guess you're forgetting carmelo choked in one of the playoff games also. And carmelo doesn' t make any of his teammates better around him. You can't just score and not even play D and expect to win a title.

@burghkid18 @es To be fair on Carmelo, he had a torn labrum or some other separated shoulder injury and was not at his best.

@riley8 @es @6marK6 Because its the generic tea made in Arizona, and that's where JR Smith is going! (when he's traded to Phoenix)

@es @6marK6 Why do Skittles get a trademark and not Arizona Tea? (sarcasm)
