The Chicago Bulls waived guard Richard Hamilton on Wednesday, the team announced.

Hamilton signed with the Bulls as a free agent in December of 2011 and appeared in 78 games (73 starts) over two seasons. He averaged 10.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds in almost 23 minutes per game.

A three-time All-Star, he helped the Detroit Pistons win the 2004 NBA Finals.

Hamilton’s game declined last season when he averaged 9.8 points as a backup in 50 games. After falling out of coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation early in the 2013 postseason, Hamilton played well down the stretch, scoring 11 points in Game 4 and 15 points in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series loss to the Miami Heat.
