The Rangers and defenseman Ryan McDonagh have agreed to a new contract, according to multiple reports. McDonagh, a restricted free agent, reportedly agreed to a deal worth $4.7 million per year for six seasons.

McDonagh, 24, has played in 169 career games, all for the Rangers. Over that time he has accumulated 60 points (12 goals and 48 assists) and has become one of the best defensemen in the league.

Montreal drafted McDonagh with the No. 12 pick in 2007, and the Rangers acquired him in the Scott Gomez deal in 2009.
