The Spurs are finalizing a four-year, $36 million contract extension for center Tiago Splitter, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Spurs reportedly were competing for Splitter’s services against a possible offer sheet from the Trail Blazers.

From Yahoo! Sports:

Portland had strongly considered signing Splitter to an offer sheet near the $9 million salary that Spurs paid, but Splitter’s representatives and San Antonio worked out most of the details of an agreement on Monday night and into Tuesday, sources said.

Splitter, 28, attracted significant interest as a restricted free agent. The Spurs see the Brazilian — the 28th pick of the 2007 draft — as a post option for the post-Tim Duncan era.
