The Cubs sent right-hander Scott Feldman and catcher/infielder Steve Clevenger to the Orioles in exchange for right-handers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop and international-signing money. The news was first reported by Keith Law on Tuesday afternoon.

Feldman, 30, is 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA and 1.143 WHIP in 15 starts with the Cubs this season. He had signed a one-year, $7 million contract as a free agent with the Cubs last November after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Rangers.

Clevenger, 27, went 1-for-8 with the Cubs after hitting .327/.426/.596 in 15 games for Triple-A Iowa.

Orioles general manager Dan Duquette commented on the team’s new additions in a statement:

“Feldman is a proven starter with postseason experience who should help stabilize our rotation for the second half… Clevenger is a left-handed bat with good receiving ability. He could also make a contribution to this year’s team.”

Arrieta, 27, started five games for the Orioles this season and was 1-2 with a 7.23 ERA and 1.775 WHIP. Strop, also 27, has a 7.25 ERA and 1.701 WHIP in 29 relief appearances for the Orioles.

In addition to Arrieta and Strop, the Cubs receive the Orioles’ third and fourth international signing bonus slots. The international signing period began on Tuesday.
